I am from the place where the heat hits the rocks gently

RITA COTRIM, BS5 | Bristol, United Kingdom | Lisbon, Portugal

I am from the place where the heat hits the rocks gently

I am from the place where the heat hits the rocks gently

And the warm wind blows strongly amongst the bushes and the sand

Where the sea is our priceless poetry

Where we talk about food while eating it,

And also after we have ate it

Where we explode fast

And hug even faster

Where we greet foreigners with a smile,

And always have food at the table for one more person.

I am of the humble people and earth keepers.

I am the stubborn daughter of stubborn flower-keepers

Niece of 3 teachers.

Loved granddaughter of a craftsman and a tradeswoman.

I traveled from a small village to the big city

To lose my treasure and find it again

By diluting myself and integrating myself all over again

Now with an expanded family,

Of friends and loves from all four corners

and colours of the world.

I am from the place where the heat hits the rocks gently
